Imagine how wonderful it would be if you knew how to control your dreams. You could visit distant lands, make love to the person of your dreams- literally, and even fly! The possibilities are endless!
Controlling Your Dreams Through Lucid Dreaming
In order to control your dreams, you must first realize that you are dreaming. When you realize that you are indeed in a dream world, you begin a process called lucid dreaming. In my opinion, there is no better feeling than becoming lucid inside of a dream. My body becomes filled with excitement, and I see my dream in perfect clarity! The color's become very bright, and the sounds become very crisp. This all happens in what seems like an instant!
The First Step To Lucid Dreaming
Before you can begin to have lucid dreams, you must first be able to remember your dreams.
Most people never remember their dreams. In fact, there are some people who believe that they never dream! This is completely false! Everyone dreams! It naturally happens in the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase of sleep. Most people just don't remember ever having a dream at all.Remembering your dreams is the most difficult part of becoming lucid. There is a way that you can train yourself to remember your dreams though, through the use of a dream journal. Just try to write the things you were dreaming about in very early morning.
What Happens After You Can Remember Your Dreams?
After you become proficient at remembering your dreams, you are very close to becoming lucid.
So, about half of your dream journal is full, and you are ready to step into lucidity! This is the easiest part of the whole process! There are quite a few different lucid dreaming induction methods (ways to become lucid), but I will give you the easiest.Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream, or MILD dreaming basically involves you telling yourself that you are going to have a lucid dream. To do this, set an alarm clock for about five to six hours after you fall asleep. When you wake up, if you were dreaming, write your dream down in your journal. Before going back to sleep, say to yourself, over-and-over, "I am going to have a lucid dream".While doing this, make sure that you focus on just those words. Do not let anything break your concentration. Sooner or later, you will slowly drift into a dream state. Once you are in a dream state, do a reality check.A reality check is nothing more than your way of confirming that you are dreaming. If you have kept a good dream journal, you may notice something that you see a lot in your other dreams. The reality check that I use though, is to look at my hands. In all of my dreams (and a lot of my friend's dreams), when I look at my hands, they look much different. Sometimes they have six fingers, sometimes they are really big, or even really small. After you complete your reality check, you will be filled with the most amazing sensation that you have ever experienced. You will realize that you are dreaming, and that you can now control your dreams!
